Nathan turns 2 and we took the opportunity to have an extended celebration over the long weekend.
Not wanting to drive through to Malaysia since there is a spike in armed robbery, we brought the kids to Balestier to bask in the kampong spirit.
The stay at Ramada Hotel was pretty relaxing and though there was less activities to pursue, this meant more time for the kids. Besides, it started business only 3 months ago and everything is literally brand new! The room was super clean and nicely decorated with a loft bench which could be used as a bed. You could save some cash and not order an additional bed if you have visitor who wants to crash over.
Breakfast was at a quaint little cafe called "De Cafe" that comes with a fully functional fire place! It served really cheap coffee and we overestimated ourselves by buying 2 cups of grande, which is equivalent to 8 small cups! Besides, they also serve cakes, pastries and an array of breads at very affordable prices.
We played ball at the field and Natalie had a great time chasing and honing her kicks! Carpet grass was perfect for little ones who may be allergied to cow grass and I could remove my slippers and join in the fun without hesitation.
There were lots of quaint little shophouses along the area and for something more historical you could visit the Sunyat Sen Museum situated across the hotel where both children participated in handicraft making. Natalie selected a pony and completed the entire art work on her own. Whilst Nathan selected the shark piece and helped paste the bits of crepe paper. I was particularly surprised by their papa's engagement, who initially started off anouncing that he wanted to do his work at the side and leave all the fun to me. Well he started taking over the crepe construction, which sped up the pasting process. Although he complained that his fingers felt cramped as we pushed him to speed up production, we could tell he was thoroughly enjoying his handiwork!
Here we are celebrating the moments Yummy cake from Cedele from yiyi! And gong gong whipped up a storm on his own!!!
