Newborns

Visited Sarah after her delivery today and recalled how tiny Natalie and Nathan were when they were born! Such little fingers and toes... and how soft and cosy they felt in your arms! At first acquaintance these little ones were not shy about fulfilling their cravings for colostrum and its a wonder how they could expertly seek out the source, shut-eyed, throughout the entire search operation without prior training! Such Pure display of innate survival ability!

No matter the amount of prenatal research or preparation seminars that you attended to psych up for the tasks of sleepless demands ahead, mothers can never predict the amount of love for their kids until you get to feel your child in your arms for the first time. In that instance, the connection and bliss that you are feeling somehow amazingly activates all the underlying maternal instincts and make all those sacrifices so worth their while!

You will also be amazed at how those million of feeds and hours spent on expressing simply worked naturally, in tuned with your body clock, and 12 months simply zoomed by without your noticing! How you forgot the drain and tiredness or aches that your body felt as you work through the night shifts. Suppose daddies may feel the benefits more as demands to help with all that washing and sterilising is lower during the breastfeeding period .. Well at least Chris did enjoy that 1+ year break without having to prepare bottles at the break of dawn and in the middle of night.

I am again reminded of how fast these sweet little babies grow up and gain that ability to run all over the house without you even noticing it! So enjoy that first stages of life as much as you can as those moments are irreversible, and you would want to look back and reminisce on all that wonderful history and give yourself a pat on the back for the efforts that you've put in for your children!
