First day of school

The kids were so looking forward to school after having rested at home for 1.5 months.

Particularly Natalie who was so excited to know who will be her new K2 teacher even though she secretly wished that  黄老师 could continue to serve as her Chinese teacher.  Nathan on the other hand didn't quite warm up to the idea of school until he tasted his first meal there.  This funny little boy was so excited when he shared the highlight of his day. ... which was all about eating Coco crunch and drinking milo, and playing table toys.  Well at least it looks like a good start and he is starting to enjoy school.

However the first day was not without its usual hiccups.  Gong gong who oversee their morning bus ride arrived on time to ensure that both kids had their breakfast and all  already for school.  Together they waited for more than 15 minutes before the school bus arrived.  Jie jie whose lesson starts at 0800 only managed to reach school at 0820 that day. She had to find her class on her own and fortunately kids know each other and are familiar with the school's layout... so she wasn't traumatised...But making her own way up to storey 3 and facing the embarrassment of being recognised as a late comer would be too harsh for myself to bear on the first day.

So transport pick up at 855am is totally unacceptable! We complained to both the school and bus coordinator and it's closer to the end of the first week without any resolution.  Coordinator sounded unwilling to change the timing and incompetent to do so. We just hope this gets resolved quickly so we can kick start our routine.  Else Chris would rather send them to school himself in order for the kids to arrive comfortably to participate in assembly.
