First day of Primary school

Start of a new year and Natalie is going to primary school. Feeling the adrenalin rush as we helped with uniform purchase,  bag packing and making sure she had her shoes and socks prepared, se was unable to sleep the night before. She spent couple of days labelling every single item in her school bag down to each colour pencil since everyone will be using the same brand purchased from the school's  stationary shop. I must say the school is super organised.  They managed to compile a relevant book list for the school and pack everything nicely in a recyclable box!

I must say the grand parents are even more excited than her.  Gong gong and popo were both waiting at the house by 6am!! Wanting to be there to witness the first day of school of the dearest grand daughter that they love and dote on!! They stayed through the day and relived the good old days when I first started p1! Reminiscing on the missed moments!!!

Natalie behaved better than expected on day one. She assimilated really well particularly with the help of her buddy, Namrata. After she was brought around for the first time she was able to remember where's the library, music room, uniform store and bookstore etc. For the first day she ate her sandwich from home. Second day,  she decided that she will be trying the chicken rice. I remembered her beaming smile ☺ when she told me all about the process of queuing and deciding if she wants to purchase a $1 / $1.50/ $2 plate. She bought the $1.50 plate and had such a hearty and full meal.  "The chicken rice was yummy!" She said. It was a major accomplishment.. buying food on her own for the first time and with the meal as a reward at the end... that made the meal exceptional!!

Well all is not rosy.. she complained that there was nothing to be learnt in school and that the alot of time was wasted waiting for the bus queue. Apparently p1s were dismissed 1 hour earlier ie 1230 to proceed and queue at the right bus queue. She was frustrated from the wait and inefficiencies of the management, but I told her things will get better when the kids are familiar with the pickup location.

Nonetheless,  she loved going to school and that was a major leap for her at this stage. For one who expects difficult learnings since day 1.. this girl has high potential I must say.
