If you have read the above, you would realised that some mothers eat it raw to maximise the effect..
I wasnt brave enough, but did try my own placenta today! Mum cooked it the chinese wAy ie ginger and wine. So how does it taste?
Yummy to be honest! I was pretty put off by the idea initially but tried it nonetheless since mum took a long time to prepare it. It taste chewy, a little like beef without the beefy stench. Would recommend it for all pregnant mummy-to-be as it is supposed to help with postpartum depression and postpartum hemorrhage. There are doctors who use the placenta medicinally in the early stages of postpartum because it is high in progesterone and has small amount of oxytocin. This supposedly helps stem bleeding after birth and causes the uterus to clean itself out. See link below for more info.
