We learnt this the hard way via Natalie who had been given a cup of chin chow by daddy. She suffered from bad coughs and phlegm and ended up with fever, which lasted for about 4 days now and i haven't had a good sleep since! Poor little girl tends to suffer from such frequent bouts of fever. fever fluctuates and rises to 39.9 at night so i had to bring her to dr Toh. this little girl was crying so hard when the nurse drew blood from her to test for bacteria. Her hand became the untouchable after the trauma!
So for those who are reading my site, please do not attempt to give your young children chin chow or grass jelly no matter how hot the weather. Their constitution has yet matured to handle the cooling remedy. so best to err on side of caution and save it for your own consumption!
Main ingredient(s) of grass jelly include: Mesona chinensis stalks and leaves, potassium carbonate, starch.
