Is it OK for a stranger to touch your kids face when you are around?

So is it OK to allow someone to touch your child's face when  you are around. Today I felt a sense of discomfort when I woke from my sleep cause the back of my mind I was thinking about the incident that happened last evening.  Nathan and I were waiting at the store whilst papa paid for the  grocery. The old man in his 60s who was selling sweets approached us and casually asked if Nathan can transform his scooter into a robot. I responded on his behalf. But the old man touched his cheeks and said this boy is so shy. I was irritated, yet I held my composure and got Nathan to move away from the stall. No matter how old the other party is, I don't feel good when they attempt to carress the face of your kids. I told myself this will not happen a second time.

No time

Since I've joined SATS I had no time for the kids. The 12000 people strong company has been growing and will be expanding its growth in  the next 10 years or so and I feel great about being in the fore run of the race but my kids seems to have to bear the brunt of it. I haven't spent enough time with them to coach and teach them things and information that I want to impart. Reading each night becomes a moving target. I just simply can't get home on time to do these things that I want with my kids.  My mum says I haven't set my priorities right and I do agree that I haven't juggled the portfolio well.  The kids are given a break at reading. I need to find the momentum again. The way I treated work.  Can't rely on others to do this job of mine well no matter how I delegate.  The order of things idea currently all wrong and I want to accomplish many things but it is not the right time to do this.  Family and hubby first!

Mental arithmetic competition

This was her maiden competition for mental arithmetic and abacus and I am so proud that she managed to clinch 4th for mental and 3rd for abacus! All credits goes to her gong gong who guided her on speed and corrected her "swimming" movements to minimise the energy spent moving her arms and as she use the air fingering method.

Training started more than a month ago and she had to complete 2 competition practice books on top of the  usual cma workbooks. Gong gong will sit with her everyday to time her mental speed. She is to complete as many mental questions under 30 seconds as possible. Initially she was only able to complete 3 or 4 questions correctly. With each week's practice and tutelage by dear gong gong, she was able to complete additional 1 question every 2 weeks.

On the day of her competition, Natalie managed 6 corrected mental sums in 30 seconds! Keep up the good work darling! She told us she aim to improve her score next year! Her diligence paid off and she was awarded with 2 trophies! Also not forgetting the "6 个核桃" which daddy bought from Hong Kong with said properties that will improve brain functions! Good job daddy for making the day hassle free and accompanying Natalie for the examination!

Hong Kong

Nathan's first piano concert

Nathan has been learning piano together with his daddy for 10 weeks and today was his first concert with Yamaha. We were all super excited and nervous for him. I haven't heard him play in front of a crowd before and neither has he sang in front of so many pairs of eyes. It was strictly his first recital  and guess what ? This brave little boy put up his hands and asked to be the first to play!

Confidently, Nathan walked to the front of the audience and greeted everyone.

"Good afternoon. My name is Nathan and today I am going to play "See you tomorrow".

He got up onto the high chair and placed both hands on the keyboard in the right position and waits for his cue to play. The teacher played the interlude and he played his part brilliantly!

Daddy was all smiles for he has taught him well! Kudos to the daddy! It was a forced arrangement where I proposed to sponsor his music course with 1 condition that is he being the parent who completes the junior class with Nathan. He was super reluctant and tried many times to taichi the role, but with 10 weeks of practice.. even daddy is seen practicing see you tomorrow when no one is looking! Good job papa!!

Nathan's haircut

Nathan had been asking for a shorter hairstyle  since school reopened. He didn't like it when the relatives particularly during Chinese new year asked of he is a boy or girl because of his soft silky hair.

Yesterday I brought him to the hairstylist and guess what the stylist made his wish come true! Sigh it was such a waste in our opinion and I had a earful from Chris who scolded me throughout the ride back.. here's the transformation..

There is only one person who felt superb after the cut.. and that is Nathan! The rest of us felt a sense of lost. As Natan no longer look the same . His look has aged him and immediately transformed him from a young little boy to a p1 kiddo over a seating at the stylist!
